Hmm thought this was going to be design and less introductory overview of materials and tools To be fair it does say Simple Techniues in the title that my brain completely ignored for the 150 Motifs Kind of useful for tricks of the trade but there's a lot of blank space filled with large photos of hanks of thread or hoops or shears That's 25% and then it's on to the stitch primer which is useful if you don't know them This section is nearly 40%Next it covers design transfer appliué patches selecting correct font for communication enhancement and all of these things are good to know But I was expecting than text monograms astrology signs tattoos yeah some of these seem less retro and just Meh I also disagree with the author's assessment of knotting as okay in fact multiple knots No if the work isn't as beautiful looking from the back then you're not doing it right Yes I come from a needlepoint background and after my first piece had straggly threads and knots all over the back hideous I never worked another piece like thatI recognize that a good portion of my disconnect from this book is that I had most of the basic skills reviewed and what I really wanted was a motivation to pick up my needle again and this didn't help me That said some great tips here and probably useful to peruse for a beginning stitcher
